Barrio del Carmen
The visit surrounds the old part of the city. This neighborhood is one of the oldest and best kept in Europe. You can find amazing examples of Gothic, Neoclassicism, Baroque or Modernism, which could be very nice to know if you are keen on art history.
A charming place to start can be the “Torres de Serrano”, which are one of the landmarks of Valencia. These are one of the two remaining city gates from the XIV century, they were built by one of the most talented Gothic architects of those times.
From here you can go deep into the “Carmen”, and get lost into all the nice places that the neighborhood offers you: The Fish market, the Central Market, the Cathedral…
Our advice is getting a map, a camera and just let yourself go.
If you want to have a break and have something to eat, there are many little and cheap lovely restaurants, as, for example “La diabla”, which is placed next to the Serrano towers . The restaurant has a 10 € menu that surely will surprise you.
